Uley Art Day Poster

Uley Art Day

Just getting ready for the Uley Portrait Group Art Day, a nice afternoon in this delightful village, where visitors can wander round a lovely garden looking at local art work and listening to a local duo while partaking of refreshments. Let's hope the weather is kind!

Paintings from Scotland

I have been making oil paintings from the oil pastel sketches made on the spot near Loch Eribol; 7 are finished and will be in the exhibition at Cirencester along with other paintings most of which have not been seen there, Newfoundland and the Canary Island.

Back from Scotland

Just back from the north of Scotland; walking and oil pastel sketching. Some very dramatic scenery and weather! 2 oil paintings started there to finish now and other work to be done from the sketches.
We were camping here in Skye, there had been hail, sleet and rain; now at 9.45pm wonderful colour appeared in the sky and on the mountains.

Have just been to Chipping Campden to the Campden Gallery to see Kurt Jackson's exhibition. It was excellent and most inspiring. It is on till May 5th.

painting can be a struggle!

I have abandoned a large painting for the time being, and doing various small sketches instead. I am still interested in ' Winter Fields' idea, earth colours fascinate, soon all will be green again.

Sketch from Stinchcombe

Enjoying looking at winter fields, also winter grass and dogwood up on Stinchcombe hill. This sketch was looking towards North Nibley, it was quite misty, shades of mistiness into the distance. I took a photo, later at home I found I couldn't see the Tyndale monument on it, demonstrating that eyes are better for work on the spot, selecting what we see as important to put in.
