painting can be a struggle!
I have abandoned a large painting for the time being, and doing various small sketches instead. I am still interested in ' Winter Fields' idea, earth colours fascinate, soon all will be green again.

Sketch from Stinchcombe
Enjoying looking at winter fields, also winter grass and dogwood up on Stinchcombe hill. This sketch was looking towards North Nibley, it was quite misty, shades of mistiness into the distance. I took a photo, later at home I found I couldn't see the Tyndale monument on it, demonstrating that eyes are better for work on the spot, selecting what we see as important to put in.

Rome March 2013
Just back from Rome, lots of walking and looking, however, so much to see there. Sadly couldn't visit Sistine Chapel, it was closed, they were choosing a new Pope. I liked especially San Clemente and Ostia Antica.
I loved the trees, cedar we think; also holm oak, cypress and plane (without leaves)
The public transport was super and cheap! Yummy coffees.

Cotswold Edge
Since moving here I have found it difficult to find a way to represent this landscape, having been used to 'wilder' places. Sketching and painting 'on the spot', feeling the shape and texture of the land, seeing it in winter, moving away from 'all the greens' has allowed me to make a start.
Lately I have found a quick sketch from memory of a glimpsed view has helped in making a personal image.

Solo show in Stroud
I am getting ready for my second show in Stroud, taking posters around, deciding on work, making cards, framing, lots of other jobs. As with previous shows it seems like loads to do but it is rewarding to have positive feedback from everyone, meeting new people who often become friends.
